The purpose of the Entrepreneur’s Academy is to provide training and professional leadership development to aspiring and growth-oriented entrepreneurs. The goal of this training is to improve participants’ ability to develop an informed and informative Business Plan that will better support funding requests for local entrepreneurial ventures in Macon.
Course Overview & Objectives
Each workshop session will include 3-5 specific learning objectives to support the successful startup and growth of entrepreneurial ventures. Overall, participants in this course will:
- Increase their awareness of entrepreneurship and leadership skills needed to successful launch, grow and lead an entrepreneurial venture.
- Develop strategic and operational strategies to begin or grow their business concept(s).
- Acquire financial and other strategically important resources to support new and growing businesses
- Increase their knowledge of entrepreneurial and leadership behaviors required for the successful startup, growth, and long term sustainability of entrepreneurial ventures.
Sessions are organized around key knowledge skills, and attitudes related to the PERSON, PROCESS, PRODUCT, and PRACTICE of entrepreneurial ventures. Each session will include time for applied learning related to the PRACTICE of developing a high quality business plan. Participants will deliver brief presentations each time the cohort meets to promote communication skills, confidence, and promotional skills as leaders of their venture.

This session will highlight the importance of the person leading the entrepreneurial vision to have a clear and intentional articulation of values, vision, and mission, as well as the critical role of team-building
October 2, 2018 8:00am to 12:30pm
This session examines the ideation that is at the heart of the process of venture creation, with a focus on quantifying and qualifying the customer who has the need/want targeted by the idea embedded in the venture creation process. In addition, this session will examine the life/work balance of the aspiring entrepreneur and include time and stress management strategies.
October 16, 2018 8:00am to 12:30pm
The session focuses on the feasibility of the producing the product/service, placing emphasis on the competition and the characteristics of the relevant marketplace/industry, and cost structures that typifies success for those who serve the identified customer within the identified industry
October 30, 2018 8:00am to 12:30pm
This session focuses on the cost structure, financial projections, and beta testing of the product concept. It includes a review of the two primary streams of leadership styles often adopted by entrepreneurs.
November 13, 2018 8:00am to 12:30pm
This session is the culminating opportunity for participants to put into practice what they have learned by delivering the completed Business Concept Plan, presenting their successes and challenges, and celebrating the Academy experience.
