The purpose of the Entrepreneur’s Academy is to provide training and professional leadership development to aspiring and growth-oriented entrepreneurs. The goal of this training is to improve participants’ ability to develop an informed and informative Business Plan that will better support funding requests for local entrepreneurial ventures in Macon.
Sessions are organized around key knowledge skills, and attitudes related to the PERSON, PROCESS, PRODUCT, PROJECTIONS, and PRACTICE of entrepreneurial ventures. Each session will include time for applied learning related to the PRACTICE of developing a high quality business plan. Participants will deliver brief presentations each time the cohort meets to promote communication skills, confidence, and promotional skills as leaders of their venture.
Session #1: The PERSON
August 27, 2019 8:30am to 12:00pm
This session will highlight the importance of the person leading the entrepreneurial vision. The entrepreneur must have a clear and intentional articulation of values, vision, and mission, and have a strong handle on his/her personal financials in order to successfully manage his or her business venture. The critical role of team-building to launch or grow a successful business will be examined.
Session #2: The PROCESS
September 10, 2019 8:30am to 12:00pm
This session examines the ideation that is at the heart of the process of venture creation, focusing on the importance of market strategy to the success of your business. Participants will carefully determine customer needs and then outline a strategy to qualify and quantify the customer. Marketing and branding are also a component of this session, helping participants develop appropriate strategies to reach their target customer.
Session #3: The PRODUCT(s)
September 24, 2019 8:30am to 12:00pm
The session focuses on the feasibility of producing the product/service, placing emphasis on the competition and the characteristics of the relevant marketplace/industry and cost structures.
Session #4: The PROJECTIONS
October 8, 2019 8:30am to 12:00pm
This session focuses on the cost structure and financial projections of the business venture. The session will give an in-depth overview of financing options that are available to start-up and existing businesses and teach participants how to generate and use financial reports to increase business profitability.
Sessions #5: The PRACTICE
October 22, 2019 8:30am to 12:00pm
This session will provide participants the opportunity to refine their business concept, structure, or financials, and to compile all the individual components of their business plan into a complete document.
Sessions #6: The PRESENTATION
November 5, 2019 8:30am to 12:00pm
This session is the culminating opportunity for participants to put into practice what they have learned by delivering the completed business concept plan, presenting their successes and challenges, and celebrating the Academy experience.
